Instrumental musicLearning an instrument in a disciplined environment is not only a wonderful, life changing experience, it has also been scientifically proven to change the brain. Learning an instrument literally makes you smarter. If you want your child to get better results in the classroom and in life then providing them with this opportunity is a great start.
What is on offer
The aim of this program is to offer access to the Department of Education’s Instrumental Music Program. Students in small or remote schools access instrumental music lessons via the internet using the Department of Education’s 'Learning Place' and 'Blackboard Collaborate' as the teaching platform. Your child is tested for suitability and is loaned a department owned instrument for their first year of tuition. Students receive weekly instrumental music lessons via the internet, as well as access to face to face workshops, camps and performance opportunities. Lessons are available to students from year 4 to year 6. Lessons are currently available on Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet and Trombone.
How it works
Once the students are enrolled in the program, instruments have been issued and parents have purchased the necessary items listed on the 'Equipment List', students will begin weekly instrumental music lessons. Students will leave their regular class to attend the IM Online lesson.
